One Month Down - Page 1
Well it's been a month in Japan and things are going pretty good. I
finally got my ATM card today! And I took a lot of pictures walking
around Gion in Kyoto. You should all check out this site that Monk told
me about:

Also, I have some updates. The flyer was distributed by the Communist
Party of Japan according to my Chinese friend. And the girl with mustache
on the Boss ad was Ayumi Kamasaki, currently a very hot japanese singer,
so I might have to see her around a lot. Also, the Notre Dame university
is for women.

Liquor Land Maruyama
This is the cheap liquor store by the river downtown that Japanese youths
frequent to fuel them for all-night summer parties on the banks. A fifth
of Stolichnaya is only \570! Good deal.... |

In the Teacher's Lounge
I look like such a nerd, and I need a haircut. |

Cherry Trees Soon to Blossom
These are on the other side of the tracks from my school. These cherry
trees are on the other side of a creek beside the high school baseball
field. They should be blooming in the next two weeks. Viewing cherry
blossoms is a big deal in Japan. Basically, lots of people go sit under
them and get trashed. Okay, not all of them get trashed, but from what
I've heard, most of them do. The Japanese word for cherry blossoms is
sakura. |

Yamashina Fire Station
I don't know why I think this is interesting. Maybe it's just because I
have a digital camera and so there's no such thing as wasting film! |
Yamashina Cabbage Farm
No, I don't live in the sticks. Japan is just a very crowded place, even
for the farmers. |

Graveyard in Yamashina
Most deceased people in this mostly Buddhist country are cremated, so
graveyards like these are rare. I don't mean to infer that all Buddhists
are cremated. Some have graves or even tombs (like Shogun Toyotomi
Hideyoshi--I think). |
